Forever In Our Care

Buddy and Guy’s

We are 12 years old. This picture shows us in better times when we had our Dad. He loved us very much, we were his life, but when he died we were left alone. Our Dad’s daughter did not want us and so we stayed in the backyard at Dad’s house. We had a doghouse to share and huddled together in the winter and laid in a kiddie pool in the summer. We have been here by ourselves for over a year. She drove by every day and gave us water and food, but we missed our Dad. We wanted to be loved. At least we have each other. We are littermates and Dad had us our whole lives. Now our Dad’s house is being foreclosed upon and tomorrow we must leave. We were being offered on CraigsList for $10. A lady in San Luis Obispo replied to the Craigslist AD and she contacted San Diego Pug Rescue, but all of their fosters were full. Our Dad’s daughter said we had to find a new home that day or we were going to the Shelter. The nice lady took us in until a forever home could be found. We are looking forward to being inside and having soft beds and hearing peoples voices. We are ready to feel loving hands pet us like our Dad always did. We are looking forward to being bathed and looked after, getting our aches and pains addressed and more than anything — we are so looking forward to being loved and loving. Because through this awful and very lonely year we never gave up on people. We never stopped trusting and loving….and we will continue to trust and love as long as our bodies hold out because we’re pugs and that’s what we do. That’s what our Dad taught us.”

Update : Buddy and Guy are going to live out their lives in their Foster home. They are sweet, loving old gents and are getting all the attention, pampering and love they deserve. They are even allowed to sleep in the bed with their humans and other pug-mates!

Lucy aka ” Possum”

Meet little Lucy, the love pug.  She was found as a stray and when no one claimed her, we did and rescued her from the Bakersfield Shelter.  It was apparent that she has lived a long life of neglect. Her little 10 lb. body endured many litters and we sense she lived outdoors.  She was a very sick little girl and was treated for infected eyes, ears, skin and you name it, she caught it or had it! We removed close to a dozen ticks from her little body.  She had severe dental decay and had all her teeth removed but one. She is arthritic in her back and rear legs from a hip injury and enduring so many births, but motors around just fine.  She is very inquisitive like a puppy and is quite the wanderer.  She is very cute and funny, lets out a little howl when its close to meal time. She hops on her front legs to let you know she wants up in your lap and ever so content and quietly lays by your side.  You can tell how grateful she is for the relief from her aches and pains and stares into your eyes like she cant believe she is warm and loved.  Lucy will most likely live out her days in foster care.  If you are interested in giving her a permanent home, contact us.  If you would like to donate to her care, you may do so by donating by clicking the donate button.
