Forever Fosters
Buddy and Guy’s Story
We are 12 years old. This picture shows us in better times when we had our Dad. He loved us very much, we were his life, but when he died we were left alone. Our Dad’s daughter did not want us and so we stayed in the backyard at Dad’s house. We had a doghouse to share and huddled together in the winter and laid in a kiddie pool in the summer. We have been here by ourselves for over a year. She drove by every day and gave us water and food, but we missed our Dad. We wanted to be loved. At least we have each other. We are littermates and Dad had us our whole lives. Now our Dad’s house is being foreclosed upon and tomorrow we must leave. We were being offered on CraigsList for $10.
A lady in San Luis Obispo replied to the Craigslist AD and she contacted San Diego Pug Rescue, but all of their fosters were full. Our Dad’s daughter said we had to find a new home that day or we were going to the Shelter. The nice lady took us in until a forever home could be found. We are looking forward to being inside and having soft beds and hearing peoples voices. We are ready to feel loving hands pet us like our Dad always did. We are looking forward to being bathed and looked after, getting our aches and pains addressed and more than anything — we are so looking forward to being loved and loving. Because through this awful and very lonely year we never
gave up on people. We never stopped trusting and loving….and we will continue to trust and love as long as our bodies hold out because we’re pugs and that’s what we do. That’s what our Dad taught us.”
Update : Buddy and Guy are going to live out their lives in their Foster home. They are sweet, loving old gents and are getting all the attention, pampering and love they deserve from their new forever home. They are even allowed to sleep in the bed with their humans and other pug-mates!
Olive’s Story
My name is Olive! At least that is what my foster mom calls me. I have traveled a long way to be rescued! I was found wandering in Riverside and some nice human picked me up and drove me all the way to the Shelter in Santa Maria because they thought I would have a better chance at a new life. When I arrived at the Shelter I was very, very sick. A doctor took Xrays of me and said I had an enlarged heart. I was at the Shelter on heart medicine for a week until a nice lady came, bundled me up in a cozy green blanket and took me away. Seeing how sick I was, she took me right away to her pug’s doctor. The nice doctor lady said I didn’t have an enlarged heart, I had pneumonia and if I stayed on the heart medicine, I would have died. I also have an infection in my ear. I had it injured somehow and no one ever took care of it, so it just got worse. I stayed at the hospital for four days. Im doing much better and when I am feeling really good, they will fix my ear. Im a very pretty girl and I don’t like having an ugly ear.
I love my new foster home. They have bought me toys, a warm bed and give me lots of tummy rubs, which I gladly roll over for. My foster mom stays with me all day and night to watch over me. I’m potty trained, I know how to sit and I sleep in my own bed at night. I love to play with my new toys and I follow my foster mom everywhere and she says Im the sweetest girl. Im still getting better from being so sick, but I will be ready soon for someone to take me to a forever home.
Update : Olive is going to make her foster home her forever home. Central Coast Pug Rescue pulled little Olive, and has helped her get over her illnesses. Unfortunately, during her recuperation, it was discovered that Olive has cancer. Lucky for Olive, her foster family adores her, and they decided to give her a forever home for the time that she has left. She will be very, very loved and well cared for. Our heart goes out to this little darling, and we are so grateful that her foster family is willing to provide hospice care for this darling.
