Layla

Status: Adopted!

Origin : Shelter
Date Received : 1/10/2012
Personality : Sweet, Needs love and attention
Age : 4-6 years
Weight: 16 lbs
Gender : Female
Color : Fawn
Altered : Yes
Medical Conditions: None known

Her foster mom calls her Layla and says she is a sweet little pug girl.  She was dumped at the shelter after having whelped a litter of puppies. We don’t know what happened to her babies and why she was brought in as a stray with a wound in her private area. We don’t know what she has been through, but obviously not a very nice tale. With this wound, she was “rescue only”, so had we not taken her in, the shelter would have ended her days without the loving touch and care of human beings. We are all too happy to help this little angel on to a better life.

Layla’s foster mom suspects she was never socialized or spoiled in the ways a pug should be. She wasn’t given the opportunity to learn the simple things we teach our pets or to experience the happiness of love and affection.  When rewarded with a treat, she just sniffs at it in your hand.  She is learning to walk on a leash, but was very uncomfortable and scared at first in a collar.  She is a quick learner with house training but wants to mark from time to time.

On Tuesday, 1/24, she goes in for her spay and dental. We think after this procedure, she won’t feel the need to protect her surroundings and the marking will subside. She gets along with dogs, cats and small children. She is an absolute joy, loves all the attention anyone is willing to shower on her, but for what she has been through, she deserves a little extra TLC – hey, she is making up for lost time!

Ferris

Our new family addition has been such a blessing. Ferris took a few days to get used to the idea of having a little puppy in his shadow, but did adapt and turned out to be the best big brother an 8 month old pug could ask for! He is always so patient, waiting for the pup Bernard to get the bouncies out of his system! He even breaks down and plays with his little buddy; tug-o-war with a favorite toy or keep away (he grabs the toy and jumps up on the couch where his lil pup buddy can’t get too!)

He loves his human companions too! He enjoys cuddling next to you while you read, car rides, walks around the park or on the beach, and especially the evenings when he gets a little break from the puppy and gets to curl up on his side of the bed, on his pillow, lulling his teenage boy to sleep with his snoring. He has been a great pug to get to know and we look forward to many more years of his loyal companionship

Thank you Central Coast Pug Rescue!

Brownie

“Pug Love”

She came to us by happen stance
really

A chance picture on a site

Her crinkled nose and
lovely expression of simply
being happy

once

I knew we would show her
(not as much as she
could show us)

- and certainly help her to understand and know

unconditional
acceptance
joy
care
companionship

love

She slipped into our routine
like it was her own

We made her a part of the daily chaos of
a busy family,
instantly

and gave her time to
settle in and find her place.

She walks with her head held high-
her tails curled
and her nose wrinkled, eyes bright

She is a pug.

Most importantly, she is our,

“Miss Brownie.”

Welcome home!  : )
